Common Name : Gilbert's Potoroo

Scientific Name : Potorous tridactylus gilberti

Habitat :
It lives in Melaleuca heath on the south west coast of Western Australia near Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve.

Diet :
Eats mainly fungi, roots and the lavae of insects.

Size :
It reaches about 250mm.

Danger :

Cats and foxes are the main problem. This animal was thought to be extinct as it had not been seen for 125 years but in 1994 a small group was found living in dense heathland.
